MIFARE Classic Series solutions act as pioneers in the field of chip contactless smart tickets, working at a frequency of 13.56 MHz, with the ability to read and write data, and meet the standard ISO 14443. MIFARE Classic 1K was the first IC used in the processing systems of travel documents for public transport with a high degree of load in a major transport project in Seoul, Korea. After this success, cities such as Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Taipei, Pusan and many more are adopting MIFARE as the contactless interface platform, taking into account current and future requirements.
MIFARE Classic 1K is primarily used in closed systems as a travel document of fixed cost (e.g. weekly or monthly travel documents), or as a travel document in which the fare is removed from the card by the service provider.
During the work to expand the functionality of MIFARE Classic 1K, the chip MIFARE Classic 4K was created. This chip has an increased memory size, and as a result it can be used in multi-purpose cards. It offers end users more flexibility and an increased level of comfort.
Crypto algorithm, used in the solutions of the MIFARE Classic, is a cost-effective method of authentication and data encryption. It was designed for maximum performance at a basic level of data protection. In combination with a complex method of keys diversification and proper measures to ensure system security, the product can be used for top-up smart cards with a time limit or for pre-paid schemes of fare collection.
